Yog Nidra

Yog Nidra

Yoga Nidra is derived from two Sanskrit words, ‘Yoga’ (‘yuj’ = yoke) meaning union, and ‘Nidra’ meaning sleep. Yoga Nidra is a systematic process of achieving complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation in a supine position (asan). Unlike meditation, which is an aware-awake state, Yoga Nidra is considered aware state in sleep.

Yoga Nidra has been tried as a therapeutic option for many conditions. It provides peace to mind and body, and is increasingly practiced for stress management, anxiety and mood disorders. Additionally, it also helps in regulating menstrual abnormalities and sleep disorders, like insomnia.
